Second; to those of you who actually read my journal, and the even fewer who noticed I haven't done one since July 2nd (and on a kinda sour note as well), sorry I haven't had one for such a long time. Life got in the way; issues, good and bad, work, school, nothing to even talk about, blah blah blah.
Third; to those watchers of mine who actually like what I do; I am still doing "stuff." I have been doing some Bleach related drawings on the side (because Bleach is honestly all I draw, and even then it's only ever Ichigo, his hollow, and Orihime), have some Halo stuff I may put up (nothing special in any respect), and plan to get back to my Jurassic Park Fanfiction HOPEFULLY soon... ish.
Fourth; Where has Thanksgiving gone?
Let me explain. Christmas has taken over our society like a plague, leaving the other holidays in the later part of the year (Halloween, Thanksgiving) sitting on the sidelines with black eyes, twiddling their thumbs and wondering when someone is going to look at them and ask them to play too.
Stores, such as BJ's (get your mind out of the gutter), are displaying Christmas decorations in early October, Christmas carols can be heard over the radio in late November, "Holiday sales" (and you KNOW they mean Christmas) are advertised in magazines and stores around the same time, and everyone in the world is just going with the flow as though nothing is out of the ordinary.
Am I the only one who seems something just slightly out of place here?
Look, I love Christmas; it's my favorite holiday next to Halloween and Bungie Day (yeah, you heard me). But can we at least wait until Thanksgiving has its run before society starts stuffing tinsel and balls of holly down our throats? I mean for crying out loud, I got back from Thanksgiving dinner with my dad's side of the family at 6:30 today and found my mom and step-dad already putting up Christmas decorations and hanging stockings above the wood stove (we don't have a fireplace anymore). Hell, I spotted a fence already covered with those big decorative streams of fake pine needles and holly (you know the ones; you wrap them around lampposts and such) not but two weeks ago.
Is everyone so impatient for Christmas that they have to ignore the other holidays that come before it? Do stores really feel the need to have wreathes hanging in the aisles before November even hits its halfway point? Do you know how many Thanksgiving decorations I saw in stores this year, like fake cornucopias or corn stalks? None. My work place (Randall's Farm and Greenhouse) doesn't count; most of the things we sell in there could be used for Thanksgiving anyway. But everywhere else; the mall, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.; didn't see anything that I could point our or remember. Maybe one small corner of a store had stuff for the occasion, but that still makes my point valid.
I'm not saying "screw Christmas" or anything, I love the holiday. If you want to talk about Christmas or do some early shopping or something than I'm all for it; I'm mostly talking about society and capitalism in general. I'm just saying, maybe Christmas has gotten to be too important; it's all anyone cares about now a days. We should probably all try to remember the other holidays around us; they can be just as fun too.
And that's all I've got to say about that.
PS: Oh, and I apologize to those of you who do not celebrate Christmas, whether you be Jewish, Islamic, Jehovah's Witness, or any other manner of religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas; I kinda lapsed automatically into that holiday because that's what I celebrate and because, honestly, the American society focuses on Christmas more than any other holiday; so you could say my rant applies to Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Festivus as much as Thanksgiving.
